What is Botox?

Botulinum toxin, the cosmetic version, occasionally referred to as "Botox" by patients, is a popular injectable that temporarily minimizes or gets rid of wrinkles and fine lines on the face. Frown lines, forehead creases, and crow's feet around the eyes are the most often treated regions. Other regions that have been treated include gummy smiles, lip lines, thick jaw muscles, and thick neck bands.

Botulinum toxin is a pure chemical generated from bacteria. When Botox is applied in a region, the nerve impulses are blocked from reaching the targeted muscle. Therefore, the muscle is unable to contract without a signal. Reduced undesirable face wrinkles or look are the ultimate outcomes of Botox.
