The procedure in Face tightening - facelift surgery

Depending on the area and extent, the operation duration takes two to five hours and is performed under general anaesthesia. The incision runs behind the ears. In this way, the incision scar remains invisible. For current medical standards, our surgeons do not focus only on tightening the upper layer of skin but also on deeper structures, muscles, connective tissue and fat. This so-called SMAS allows the surgeon to stretch in different directions and tighten. This is followed by the smoothing of the overlying skin layer. After the excess skin caused by the tightening has been removed, the edges of the skin are finally sewn up as tension-free as possible. A light pressure bandage  is applied at the end of the operation.

After a comprehensive medical examination, our surgeon shares his recommendation about the procedure. For sure, depending on the patient's expectations, it is agreed jointly with the patient which areas need to be improved.

After face lift surgery

Swelling and sometimes bruising can occur on the face, neck, and even eyelids. A pressure bandage and a face and neck corset are applied to minimise the swelling and bleeding. After 1-2 days, the bandage is removed, and the face mask or corset is worn for another week.

​

The drains placed after the operation are removed within 24 hours, and the threads heal by themselves within 7 days. The threads do not have to be removed.

​

The earliest the person can go to work and participate in social life is 10 days.

​

The scars resulting from face lift surgery extend from the front to the back of the ear.  These scars will fade and become more indistinct over time. The feeling of tightness, numbness and tingling in the face and neck will disappear on its own within a few weeks.
